It's been three weeks since I had the keratin treatment done. I've washed my hair 7x times and only once did I not use the recommended salon Matrixx brand shampoo/conditioner. By now, I thought I would have seen most of my curl return, but it doesn't seem to be the case. It air dries pretty nicely, with some volume having returned and a bit of a wave. I think there is one curl strand in there too. But nothing close to my natural hair. The ends however, do not dried very well, so I have been using the curling/flat iron to finish the look.
Positive things I have noticed:
- Matrixx Conditioner is great at de-tangling
- Less hair loss/breakage noticed during wash
- Post wash, my hair is soft and very manageable
- Air dry time has been reduced to two hours (from 6+ hours)
- Blower dry time has been reduced to 12 minutes (from 30 minutes)
- Hair is actually looks decent after using the blow drier
- Dried hair has shiny-glossy-healthy look
Negative things I have noticed:
- Hair texture feels hard, very "processed" when wet (without conditioner)
- Matrixx Shampoo leave hair feeling squeaky clean (you can feel the squeak too)
- Matrixx Conditioner feels slimy to the touch and does not rinse out easily
- Overall loss of volume and no sign of wave/curls returning yet
- Can not use any leave-in product or hair will immediately look oily (even on the ends)
- Hair begins to look oily and starts to clump two days post wash
Here are some pics after my hair air dried from last nights wash. I think there is one actual curl there, but mostly it's just wavy/straight. If I want to flat iron it would take about 10-15 minutes and look very sleek.

Post Keratin - I had a Terrible Hair Day 9
Lets recap.
I washed my hair on Saturday- it felt a bit slimy afterwards but it dried nicely. After washing my hair on Saturday, I cleaned the house anyway and didn't pay much attention to my hair. It was up in a pony tail most of the day actually. I showered before bed and called it at 11pm. I woke up on Sunday with stringy hair; the starting-to-look-oily-and-clumped-look. Which, because of my natural hair texture, never happens. I'm wondering if its because of my hair wash routine, maybe I should have shampooed and not just co-washed? Maybe I shouldn't have finished with a dab of leave-in conditioner? Whatever, Sunday was an all around busy day anyway and I had a bunch of stuff to do before taking off for NYC again for the work week,
Woke up Monday morning at 5:30am and noticed my hair is now oily...? This is new, it has never been oily. I'm not sure if it's the leave-in conditioner that is causing this new look, (post keratin treatment). See for yourself, oily and clumpy with strands sticking to each other! High pony tail day for me! I have no time to wash my hair Monday morning when I'm trying to catch a train into NYC at the crack of dawn. Well, hopefully none of my colleagues notice (or comment) on the below look:

Let's not fret though. Tonight is wash #3 post treatment. I'll be using the Matrix Keratin shampoo and conditioner. Two shampoo rounds and 1 minute with the conditioner in before I rinse. Maybe I'll blow it out too, see how long that takes and what the final results look like. Stay tuned!
Here's an update of what the hair looked like after washed:
(doesn't look so oily anymore)
